Role Overview
Our client is seeking an experienced Azure Cloud Platform Architect to support a phased cloud transformation and infrastructure modernization initiative for a major energy client. This role will focus on planning, coordination, and architectural oversight across Azure migration and on-premises OS upgrade activities. The consultant will work closely with internal stakeholders, a PM, and offshore delivery teams to ensure migration waves are properly designed, sequenced, and executed.Key Responsibilities
Azure Migration Planning (Phase 1)- Support migration planning for approximately 55–80 VMs from Azure Stack HCI to Azure
- Define migration waves and sequencing strategy
- Validate existing Azure landing zone readiness
- Support use of Azure Migrate for workload transition planning
- Ensure minimal disruption to production environments
- Architect and plan OS upgrade strategy for ~100 production servers
- Coordinate upgrade approach with infrastructure and operations teams
- Define execution methodology for on-prem server upgrades
- Ensure alignment with business continuity and change windows
- Provide Azure platform architecture guidance and best practices
- Work closely with project team to validate design decisions
- Identify risks, dependencies, and mitigation strategies
- Ensure scalability, security, and governance standards are maintained
Required Skills & Experience
- 8+ years of infrastructure / cloud architecture experience
- Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure
- Experience with Azure Stack HCI and Azure Migrate
- Background in enterprise VM migrations and OS upgrade programs
- Strong understanding of hybrid cloud environments
- Ability to operate in a consulting / advisory capacity
- Excellent stakeholder and technical communication skills
Nice to Have
- Experience in energy or large enterprise environments
- Exposure to landing zone design and cloud governance frameworks
- Previous involvement in phased migration programs
- Familiarity with hybrid on-prem + cloud operating models
