Overview
Our client is seeking an experienced Dynamics 365 and Power Platform Architect to provide independent advisory and governance oversight during a complex transition between two Microsoft Dynamics consulting partners. This is a strategic consulting engagement focused on risk mitigation, architecture review, environment governance, security, permissions management, and migration oversight rather than hands-on development.
The successful consultant will act as a trusted technical advisor, helping the client navigate the coexistence of an incumbent Dynamics partner and a newly engaged partner while ensuring business continuity, protecting intellectual property, and supporting a successful migration strategy.
Responsibilities
- Provide independent architectural guidance and governance across Dynamics 365 and Power Platform environments.
- Assess the current Dynamics environment and identify risks associated with partner coexistence, permissions, security, and migration activities.
- Advise on tenant, environment, and security architecture to enable multiple parties to work within the ecosystem while maintaining appropriate segregation of access.
- Review and recommend controls to protect existing intellectual property, including customizations, workflows, integrations, Power Apps, Power Automate flows, and related assets.
- Oversee and provide recommendations regarding environment management, user acceptance testing (UAT), migration testing, and production deployment activities.
- Guide the client through the transition from the existing Dynamics solution to the new solution being implemented by the incoming partner.
- Evaluate migration strategies involving movement of data between Production and Sandbox environments and provide recommendations to reduce operational risk.
- Facilitate technical discussions between stakeholders and consulting partners, helping resolve conflicting recommendations and ensuring decisions are aligned with best practices.
- Provide architectural oversight through the migration and partner transition process and potentially beyond the initial engagement as required.
- Deliver risk assessments, recommendations, and governance guidance to support a planned September implementation timeline.
Required Experience
- Extensive experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 and the Microsoft Power Platform.
- Strong background in solution architecture, governance, security, and environment management.
- Experience overseeing Dynamics 365 migrations, upgrades, or complex transition projects.
- Demonstrated experience managing multi-vendor or multi-partner Dynamics environments.
- Deep understanding of Dynamics security models, role-based access controls, permissions management, and tenant governance.
- Experience providing executive-level advisory services and architectural recommendations.
- Ability to assess technical risks and develop practical mitigation strategies.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
Preferred Experience
- Experience protecting and segregating intellectual property within Dynamics and Power Platform environments.
- Previous experience supporting coexistence scenarios where multiple consulting partners or implementation teams are involved.
- Familiarity with Dynamics 365 Customer Engagement (CE), CRM, and broader Power Platform technologies.
- Experience leading data migration and environment transition initiatives.
