Location: Montreal, QC with travel 2 to 4 nights a month
Start Date: Beginning of October
Days/Hours: Monday to Friday 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
Hours/Week: 40
Salary Range: $90,000.00 - $100,000.00 with bonus component
Vacation: 3 weeks; negotiable for the right candidate

Summary

  1. Regional Operations Manager (ROM) is responsible for the operations of assigned company branches and shall direct and coordinate the activities of all departments within the branch, front end customer service, customer education, service center, shipping, receiving and customer delivery. The ROM will also cooperate with the sales department to manage house account pricing and sales. In addition, the ROM will assist the accounting department in the completion of its duties including customer AR communication and monthly reporting review.

Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities: Regional Operations Manager

  • Results
    • Deliver regions in branch sales & gross margin targets, aligned with National Outside Sales Team to ensure consistent execution
    • Managing regional operational costs and freight in line with budget
    • Review regional results, daily, weekly, and monthly to identify opportunities for improvement and share results across the team
    • Weekly review of reporting to ensure operational consistencies:
      • Shrinkage & Waste GL
      • NTS (freight) Review
      • Open orders (to be reviewed in each branch daily)
      • Read customer notes
      • Price log changes
      • Review exec summary orders daily for visibility, margin concerns
  • Inventory management
    • Replenishment
      • Work collaboratively to support branch and replenishment team objectives
    • Logistics
      • Work collaboratively to support logistics team objectives
      • Ensure execution of fleet management protocol in each branch
    • Health of the inventory
      • Sign off on regional stock adjustments resulting from cycle counts, waste, shrink etc (do we want to maintain this level?)
      • Developing process improvements to reduce the quantity, dollar value and/or pick time
      • Align cross divisionally on stale inventory management process and execute to continuously reduce this expense
      • Oversee annual inventory count for respective region
  • Ensure standard operating procedures are consistently executed within branch teams
    • Measure KPIs by role, develop individual plan for improvement
    • Continuous improvement of standards is expected
    • Ensure workplace health & safety requirements are followed
    • Ensure monthly branch audits are performed and issues addressed, personally executing a minimum of 2 audits per year per branch
  • Leadership of operations team
    • Responsible for management of the regions branch managers/leads
    • Regional recruitment and ongoing team development
    • Communication of the company direction to branch teams
    • Coaching/mentoring team while building team morale and engagement
    • Ensuring daily branch huddles are taking place to drive employee engagement
    • Support monthly branch operations meetings 1st week of the month:
      • Share results and goals for branch/region sales and margins
      • Process changes/consistencies
      • Inventory Sell offs/promotions
      • Monthly Branch Audit results
    • Ensure performance reviews are being executed annually
  • Planning
    • Annual regional operational budgeting and in branch sales and margin in collaboration with Regional Sales Manager
    • Semi-annual review and adjustments as required
    • Contributor towards strategic planning
  • Integration of acquisitions into our branch network, processes, and management structure
  • Branch relocation/renovations
  • Ensure new product launch execution and adoption through branch operational teams
  • Attend monthly national sales meeting, identifying opportunities for operational improvements
  • Integrate with other regional operations leaders
  • Ensure Forklift training/WHMIS/other safety training and testing and compliance are up to date
  • Monthly branch travel as required (2-4 nights/month), dependent on need

Qualifications:

 

  • Diploma or degree in operations management, business, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 to 7 years of experience in a similar role
  • Financial acumen
  • The ability to delegate, set expectations, monitor progress of all direct reports, and provide timely feedback
  • Motivate, inspire and create a sense a team within the branches with the goal of creating exceptional teams
  • The prioritization skills necessary to use time effectively and set action plans to achieve business targets
  • Physical requirements include Walking, bending, reaching, stretching, climbing ladders, lifting 50 pounds, visual acuity to read bar code labels and location labels
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and listening skills
  • Effective leadership skills, with a strong focus on operations and business processes
  • Analytical, organized, and structured
  • Ability to work with a team, in a fast-paced environment
