Job Title: Desktop Technician
Type: Contract- 6 months with probability of extension
Location: 3900 Rte des Aciéries, Contrecoeur, QC J0L 1C0.
Start date: June 17th 2024
Days/Hours: Monday to Friday 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
Pay Rate: $28.00 /hour
Its 5 days a week on-site -no remote work is possible. Parking on the client site is free.
Must be able to communicate in French or bilingual is even better (French and English)
They are seeking a small IT team a desktop technician that can also do basic support - help desk and basic admin – user account creation. The person must have previous end-user experience, no junior candidates.
The person must have a car (with a valid driver's license) as it’s a very large site factory that receives iron minerals by boat and transforms them into steel beams.
They will be paying for the kilometers when the person takes their car to go from one building to the other.
They will also supply all the protection gear including the boots if ever need to go into the factory but for the first few weeks/months would only be in the administrative buildings.

Job Descriptions:
Summary of Responsibilities (Purpose of the Role):
- Ensure the receipt, processing, and follow-up of all support requests made to the IT helpdesk.
- Ensure, in rotation, the receipt, processing, and follow-up of urgent support requests outside working hours made to the IT helpdesk.
- Manage user accounts for all AMM employees in Active Directory.
- Manage backups of all office systems (N1), automation (N2), and production (N3).
Daily and Weekly Tasks:
- Assist all AMM users as first-line support for all requests related to hardware problems, operating systems, hardware-software and application configurations, installation or rearrangement of hardware and networking, following personnel movements (Add, move, and change).
- Analyze requests to prioritize them.
- Manage, validate, and control daily backups of AMM data. Ensure that data backed up on magnetic tapes are stored in a vault daily.
- Create, modify, or delete user accounts.
- Offer support 24/7 on a rotating basis.
- Handle local responsibilities and interact with Shared Services.
- Experiment with solutions, and implementation strategies, and actively participate in projects and risk-impact analysis for users.
- Ensure that requests processed by the IT group comply with ITIL and/or SOx standards.
Monthly and Annual Tasks:
- Update user accounts in Active Directory.
- Maintain inventory of equipment.
- Plan the on-call schedule.
