Duration: 12 Months (Possibility to be extended annually for 3 years)

Start Date: ASAP

Days: Monday to Friday
Shifts: 9:00am-5:00pm Mon-Fri

Hours/Week: 37.5

Pay Rate: $25.00 - $30.00 / Hour Term


Our client is a BC-based charitable organization that engages the people of British Columbia in STEAM literacy.  Their mission is to ignite wonder and empower dreams through science and nature.

Position Description:

Under the direction of the IT Manager, the IT Assistant will provide user, desktop, and network support, deploying new systems, researching new technology and supporting the IT Team. The role will also assist with exhibit and building systems and is onsite.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Setup and deploy desktops, laptops, tablets, and digital phones
  • Investigate, troubleshoot, and provide end-user support for desktop, laptop, and software issues
  • Provide technical guidance to staff and answer help desk inquiries as required
  • Deliver and install printers, desktops, monitors, and other equipment as required
  • Support exhibit/building infrastructure that is technologically based
  • Perform LAN & internetworking related activities
  • Deal with 3rd party IT vendors as required

Qualifications:

  • Diploma or Degree in a related field
  • 3 - 5 years of hardware, software, or end user support experience in a Windows network environment
  • Ability to troubleshoot hardware and software issues and accurately document the effected solution.
  • Experience with Point of Sale and/or Audio-Visual systems would be an asset
  • Excellent communications abilities and customer service skills
  • Must be a good team player with the ability to work well with others and demonstrate a professional demeanor
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify root causes and effectively resolve technical issues
  • Must be a self-starter with strong work ethic and able to work with minimum supervision
  • Must be able to interact with staff and provide assistance and solutions to IT related issues
  • Ability to multitask, work in a fast-paced environment while meeting tight deadlines
  • Ability to lift to 15 kg for the purposes of carrying and installing work related equipment
