Title: Checkpoint Engineer / consultant

Pay Rate: $50.00 - $60.00/ hour
Shift: Starts with 25-30 hours a week for the first 3 months. (flexible hours)
Will Drop to 1 hour a week afterwards if extended.
Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced and skilled Senior Check Point Firewall Architect to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of five (5) years of hands-on experience in designing, implementing, and managing Check Point firewall solutions. As a Senior Check Point Firewall Architect, you will collaborate closely with Check Point's expert resources to ensure the development and maintenance of robust firewall architecture that meets our organization's security requirements.
Responsibilities:
1. Design and Architecture:
- Lead the design and development of new firewall architecture to enhance network security and performance.
- Collaborate with Check Point's expert resources to align architecture with industry best practices and emerging technologies.
- Develop comprehensive firewall rule sets to safeguard network resources and data.
2. Implementation and Management:
- Oversee the production implementation of Check Point firewall solutions across our infrastructure.
- Configure and troubleshoot firewall components to maintain optimal functionality and resolve issues promptly.
- Monitor firewall performance and security events to ensure early detection and response to potential threats.
- Generate detailed reports to evaluate firewall performance and security posture.
3. Security Event Monitoring:
- Set up and maintain security event monitoring to detect and mitigate security breaches and vulnerabilities.
- Analyze and interpret security event data to identify trends and potential risks.
4. Technical Expertise:
- Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of Check Point gateway, VPN, and endpoint security technologies.
- Possess expertise in network traffic analysis, routing protocols, and application layer protocols.
- Install and configure network security tools, intrusion prevention systems, and other relevant security technologies.
5. Certifications and Compliance:
- Maintain up-to-date certifications, including CCSA, CCSE, and CCSM, to validate proficiency in Check Point technologies.
- Ensure adherence to industry standards, regulatory requirements, and organizational security policies.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
- Minimum of five (5) years of hands-on experience in designing, implementing, and managing Check Point firewall solutions.
- Proven expertise in firewall rule set creation, configuration, troubleshooting, and performance optimization.
- Familiarity with security event monitoring and reporting techniques.
- Strong understanding of network protocols, including TCP/IP, routing protocols, and application layer protocols.
- Experience in installing and configuring network security tools and intrusion prevention systems.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team.
- Strong communication skills to effectively convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Bilingual - French and English nice to have
Certifications:
- CCSA (Check Point Certified Security Administrator)
- CCSE (Check Point Certified Security Expert)
- CCSM (Check Point Certified Security Master)
